Gatz is a bold staging of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, verbatim and unabridged. It starts with a man sitting alone one morning in a dilapidated office reading out loud from a ragged paperback, and develops out of this simple beginning into a unique and transporting 6-hour theatrical event. This ambitious, hilarious, strangely insightful work is a memorable experience not to be missed.
Elevator Repair Service, a theater ensemble directed by John Collins, combines elements of slapstick comedy, hi-tech and lo-tech design, both literary and found text, found objects and discarded furniture, and the group's own highly developed style of choreography. Their inspired and transformative experimentation has been widely applauded in the New York experimental theater world, with engagements across the U.S. and Europe. MCA is proud to present ERS in their Chicago debut.
More on: http://www.mcachicago.org/performances/perf_detail.php?id=370
220 East Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611
Photo source: http://www.realtimearts.net/data/images/art/27/2756_gallasch_gatz2.jpg

Village Gatz in Pomerania

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_udKMiUnaI-A/SqqR9amRZmI/AAAAAAAAEGQ/nwhnoEpew1g/s200/250px-POL_GA%C4%86_KAPLICZKA_001nn_(36).jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380273189145372258" />
Gatz (Polish name Gać and Kashubian name - Gac), a village in Poland located on the plain in the Pomerania, 16.5 km from the city Slupsk.
In VIII-X century - in the Valley Moszczeniczki, about 1.5 km from the present building was founded mediaeval Slavic village.
1463 - the first written information about the village Gatz.
